A delegation from the Washington
Moroccan community has visited the Orlando Moroccan American Chamber of
commerce to undertake and coordinate a series of activities between the
Moroccan Communities in the Washington National Capital area and the
Moroccan communities in South and Central Florida
It has been decided to jointly
participate in a variety of activities to start building a strong core
of representative associations in various parts of the countries that
would lead to an organized and effective Moroccan community in the US.
The effort strives to build an
effective, efficient, representative, modern and forward thinking
federation of Moroccan American organizations that would be effective in
helping in economic and social progress in morocco as well as build a
better understanding between our adopted country; America and our
country of origin; Morocco.
Some issues tackled are
- Pooling of resources for better
outreach to our respective communities to inform them of upcoming
actions and provide opportunities for a bigger participation.

- Outreach to other Moroccan
American organizations in other parts of the country with a
significant MA Communities such as Houston/Dallas, Chicago, New
York, Boston and California.
- Work with all concerned to
collect statistics to better gouge the size of the communities in
various parts of the country
The visiting group included the
Moroccan consul in Washington Mr. Hassan Khantach, Hassan Samghouni,
M. Saout with MoroccoBoard and Adil Naji with with Arabesques. Also included are Mohamed Hajjam and M.
Abdelmoumen with AV Actions, as a TV crew/reporter/producer for Al
Maghrebia TV and RTM TV, Mr. salem Ammagui, NY-based director of Royal
Air Maroc and finally Mr. Kadour Fattoumi, reporter with Maghreb Arab
Press.
The host was the Orlando Moroccan
American Chamber of Commerce, a group of talented and active business
people. Partial list: Addul Aitboukil, Hassan Erroudani, Karim bennouna,
Nouredine Chehab, Mohamed Tazi as well as Rachid Choufani, a prominent
businessman, owner/operator of the Moroccan Pavilion at Epcot center. |
