My Marrakesh
Morocco: and demystifying the Moroccan blog girl next door
Yes, it's true, a short podcast of me - the Moroccan blog girl-next-door. Yikes. Now, it's not what you think. You see, one of my favorite Barcelona-based bloggers, Amine from the blog Label ASH, was in Marrakech for business, and so we met up for lunch. Yay! He was charming, accomplished, and multi-lingual. And most importantly, nice. Yep, his wife did well. So after we lunched on mixed grill, he whipped out his camera and did this podcast. I am afraid that I am looking a bit, ahem, au naturel. But I didn't know what crafty Amine had up his sleeve. Otherwise I would have done my hair and worn a little lipstick. Eeek.

After hanging out at hotels and hanging out of windows trying to pick up a wifi signal, I went to the Wana store in Hassan (Rabat) accross from Yum Yum and bought a wireless modem. It cost 700 dirhams (about $100 USD - ouch, the dollar is low) for the modem and first month of unlimited connectivity. You can buy additional months and pay-as-you-go (Meditel offers a similar service, but at the time they require a two-year plan). Based on the access map I saw at Wana, it looks like it should work along the costal areas of Morocco. |

Eatbees Blog
Born to a daughter of immigrants and a failed priest, Marcel Côté is the author of thousands of pages of unpublished treasures, some of which are collected at Radiant Days. He has been a pizza delivery driver, political activist, radio news reporter, student of philosophy, Wall Street executive secretary, photographer, vagabond in Paris, Visual Basic programmer and web designer. He has lived in Ohio, New Mexico, San Francisco, New York, Paris and Morocco. He has visited 49 states and 14 countries. He dislikes hospitals and airports, television and air conditioning. He prefers marginal neighborhoods and poor countries. He feels that Americans are living in a bubble of self satisfaction, which even the tragedies of terrorism and war have failed to puncture. He wants to live in a global democracy, where money serves people and not the other way around. He is a Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Jew. He is currently polishing his first novel, Vanishing Point. |
