The Traditional Moroccan Summer Workshop (TMSW) is an annual workshop series organized by Thaqafat Association in collaboration with the Center for Cross-Cultural Learning. TMSW is a two-week series of workshops in Moroccan culture and handicrafts for children from 6 to 12 years of age. In addition to the workshops, the program includes a number of excursions in Rabat.

Sample workshop topics include sessions focusing on traditional oral folktales and storytelling techniques, M’sid (traditional Quranic school), introductory Tamazight language sessions, traditional Moroccan cooking, sewing, and embroidery, lessons on regional costumes, songs, and customs, traditional calligraphy (writing on a wooden board), and a carpet-making workshop. Excursions include trips to the old medina of Rabat.

All TMSW workshops are led by associates of Thaqafat Association and the CCCL trained in cross-cultural education.

TMSW INFORMATION 2009

The workshop runs from 8:30 AM-3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, from July 6 to July 17 (To be confirmed).

Fees: 1000 dh.

Languages: Arabic, French, and English.

Registration deadline: June 30th, 2009

Requirements:

 Full payment is due a week before the beginning of the program.

 Application forms should be completed and signed by parents

 Medical information should be included for the participant’s file

Included in fee:

 Workshops, supplies, lunch and two snacks (if full payment is received prior to the beginning of the program)

 Local Moroccan insurance for the two-week duration of the program

Not included in fee:

 Transportation, accommodations, and medical care
