Yes We Can !

Dedicated to Barack Husain Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America

As I turned my head back for the last time, I felt a breeze of hope on my face.
It was the final hour.
Last call for the same but there was no one to order.
The road was long.
The sky was gray.
It felt like the stars had left and the moon was too sad to cast its shadow on what became the bay of tears.

What do we really want?
VIEWPOINT - DRISS TEMSAMANI
Can any one argue that today's Morocco under M6 is way different than the Morocco of his late father?
Is it just me or we are really under a lot of reforms in Morocco and no one is noticing? Now, could it be that we are so traumatized that the speed of of implementation of these reforms is just not good enough? Could it be that we want to change Morocco over night so that we can wake up tomorrow and all the moral decay, corruption and ignorance not to mention a generation that suffers from lack of self confidence and fear... is no more?

Conversation With God
VIEWPOINT - DRISS TEMSAMANI

If I had one wish, I would want to be free for a day
I would fly high to the highest sky
I would rise to the heavens
I would go to that calm place
where you can hear your thoughts
Where you can feel the presence of the divine
I would feel the guidance and then
And only then I would have a conversation with God

For a Better Life

He packed his desire to live
Grabbed an expired picture of his old father
Buried the love for his land
Kissed his mother goodbye and
Left so many memories behind

The Forgotten
VIEWPOINT - DRISS TEMSAMANI
If love flows freely in the world without paper and stamps
What does the forgotten have to prove if all he wants is to change camps?

If the moon trades places with the sun to let the day come
Why should the forgotten loose his life if all he wants is to see the morning dawn?

SOS
VIEWPOINT - DRISS TEMSAMANI
11:15. Not sure if it’s Sunday or Friday. Not sure if it’s evening or day. I can only see the time and I don’t know how much of it I have left to send you an S.O.S.

It has been 2 days or maybe 30 since I last saw you. I am now 4 or 6 sizes smaller. Lost in this island of deception with nothing to feed my solitude. Nothing but I box of memories; 6 smiles, 4 hugs, 1000 of no and 1 special picture that kept me holding; Your innocent face when I first met you. S.O.S; I am sinking in a thought that has no bottom. It’s hard for me to see the light. Save me.

People with Vision
VIEWPOINT - DRISS TEMSAMANI

Every now and then a group of people have a vision, a small idea that
extends beyond each one of them but together they could reach.

Our journey would lead to a destination if we have something in common. We got together in Washington DC and it did not take us long to realize that we love our country. With or without a cause, we wake up and go to sleep thinking about home. What brought us together is an emotion. What made us want to go on a journey together is passion.

Dead Nation Walking
VIEWPOINT - DRISS TEMSAMANI
I run as fast as I could from this topic. I tried hiding in my busy schedule to avoid seeing the images. I thought about other issues hoping to clear my mind from the horrible stories. Exhausted I had to give up and surrender to the facts.

Here I am now, facing this blank page of paper. Angry and scared I open the door to unleash my thoughts. A combination of sadness, fury, shame and confusion is pushing me to ask the question, are we a schizophrenic nation? But wait, as I dialogue with myself, I doubted the validity of the word and I decided to look it up. Schizophrenia, a group of psychotic disorders usually characterized by withdrawal from reality, illogical patterns of thinking, delusions, and hallucinations, and accompanied in varying degrees by other emotional, behavioral, or intellectual disturbances. Yes, I think it’s safe to ask the question; Are we a schizophrenic nation?

Dear Mr. Blair
VIEWPOINT - DRISS TEMSAMANI

In reference to your statement published by The Associate Press AP on Tuesday October the 17th 2006 and I quote “Islamic head scarves are a sign of separation and Britain's Muslims should be encouraged to integrate with mainstream society in order to improve the quality of their lives”; Allow me to fill the education gab and provide you with a humble lesson in cultural diversity and tolerance.

Mr. Blair, first let me check. Have you been living in England or South Africa? I know you have been traveling quite a bit during your presidency but I was wondering if during one of your trips you decided to stay behind.
